Once hatched, dragons must be placed either into a habitat or into a location. Different types of habitats exist for each different element, and a dragon must be placed into a habitat that corresponds with its own element. Dragons with more than one element can be placed in any habitat that is for one of their elements.
Every habitat can hold a specific number of dragons, and can accumulate a certain quantity of DragonCash or gems. A habitat that has reached maximum capacity cannot accumulate any more DragonCash until emptied by a player. An icon with DragonCash on it will appear above a habitat when it reaches 10% of its maximum capacity.

Upgrades[]
Not every habitat upgrade includes more slots for dragons. Sometimes a habitat upgrade only increases the habitat's cash cap.
In the table below, the details for each level is to cost to upgrade TO that level. Level 1 is the cost to buy from the Market. All amounts are in DragonCash, except for Level 6 upgrades which cost Gems and the Exploration Extravaganza Habitat which costs event currency.

The Exploration Extravaganza Habitat is already at level 2 by default when bought in the event.
The first Zodia Habitat repair is free. Subsequent repairs to level 1 cost 50.
Habitat Limit[]
Leveling up can increase the number of habitats you're allowed to buy. Early on, the average is slightly more than one habitat per level, but around level 35(?) it drops to one every second level, then returns to one per level after level 40.
Zodia and Dragonsai habitats do not count towards this cap.
